Artist Statement
I create science graphics and illustrations for research and medicine. Explore the intricacies of quantum mechanics, witness the celestial dance of galaxies, and journey through the human body at a cellular level – all through the power of visual storytelling. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for scientific accuracy, my creations not only entertain but also educate, empowering audiences of all backgrounds to grasp the wonders of the universe.
Educational Background
Nicoletta Barolini has a master of art education (Ed.M.) degree in Art & Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College. She earned a bachelor's (B.A.) degree in liberal arts, with a focus in studio art, from Sarah Lawrence College and studied graphic design at the School of Visual Art. She works part time as an art director and science visualizer for the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at Columbia University and has been a professional commercial artist for over 20 years.
Teaching Artist Experience
I have worked as a free-lance and community art teacher of painting, sculpture and graphics in Dobbs Ferry and Hastings. Furthermore, I enjoyed doing an art residency at the Nelson Mandela school in Mount Vernon where we visualized the damage done to the lungs from smoking.
