Artist Statement

MaryAnn McCarra-Fitzpatrick is currently working on a manuscript of poems and creating collages.

Her poetry has been published in Make Room for Dada, The Mount Vernon Independent, OBSOLETE! Magazine, The Mount Vernon Inquirer, Cavalier Literary Couture, Mount Vernon Today, Thick With Conviction, The Mom Egg, Chronogram, Laughing Earth Lit, Torrid Literature, Clapboard House, The Westchester Times Tribune, Cheap and Easy Magazine,  Episodic Magazine, The Lake, Westchester Review, The Pierian, in "Vox Mom" --an online feature of The Mom Egg literary journal-- and in MoonLit, Florida English, The Healing Muse, and The Echo Room.

A participant in the “Writing the Walls” program at Hudson Valley MOCA for several years. 

Video of spoken word contributed to “Climbing the Walls” — a pandemic-related project of Studio Theatre in Exile. 

Two collages included in the exhibit “Together ApArt” at Arts Westchester in White Plains (2021).  

A selection of her work was published in the first anthology to gather together the work of poets in Mount Vernon: "Blood Beats in Four Square Miles" edited by james "jAFa" Fair.  Placed third for the Greenburgh poetry prize in 2012.

A reader at Centerfold Coffeehouse, The Back Fence,  Manhattan College, ABC No Rio, Blue Door Gallery, AC-BAW Arts Center, Lola's Tea House, Mount Vernon Public Library, Studio Two at Antonia Arts, Greenburgh Town Hall, EMBARK@EMC, The Bean Runner Cafe, Warner Library of Tarrytown, NY, and at Open Studios weekends in Peekskill, New York.

A selection of her collages is also available on the website "Uncooked Culture."   Several of her collages have been included in the travelling art exhibition "Circus Terminal" -- most recently exhibited in Suriname as well as at a group exhibit at the Peekskill Extension of Westchester Community College.  MaryAnn has also participated in several “mail art” exhibitions, held at various locations around the world.  She lives in Peekskill, NY, with her husband Mark and their sons.
