Artist Statement
As a jazz vocalist and dedicated musician, I am passionate about the transformative power of music and its ability to connect us to our innermost emotions and to each other. My artistic journey spans from performing at revered venues like Carnegie Hall and the Vatican to leading original ensembles across the United States. My work is driven by a deep commitment to exploring contemporary bebop and jazz standards, aiming to innovate while honoring the rich traditions of the genre. Through my projects and performances, I strive to create a resonant experience that not only showcases technical prowess but also evokes genuine emotional responses from my audience.
Educational Background
My educational background has significantly shaped my approach to music and teaching. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory from the University of Virginia, where I developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking and interdisciplinary perspectives. This July 2024, I graduated with a Masters in Contemporary Performance from Berklee Valencia, where I had the privilege of studying under esteemed faculty and collaborating with peers who share my passion for jazz. This advanced training has refined my vocal technique and broadened my understanding of contemporary performance practices, enriching both my artistry and pedagogical approach.
