Artist Statement

Ann van Buren is a Hudson Valley based poet, writer and educator who integrates nature, science, and sensorial perception with language.  Her poems have been published locally in The Westchester Review, "Let the Poets Speak" and by the Blue Door Gallery.  Her piece, "Snow Day," can be found on http://vimeo.com/71688058.  She facilitates the activation of imagination in workshops at the Greenburgh Public Library, Westchester Community College, Mariandale on Hudson, and The Hudson River Museum.  Her translation of "After the Bombs," by Guatemalan writer, Arturo Arias, was published by Fiction International, and she has over two decades of experience as a librarian and English teacher in secondary schools and universities in areas as diverse as New York, Maryland, Rhode Island and China.
