Artist Statement
Andrew Barthelmes received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 1996. While living in different New York neighborhoods he became captivated by the relationship between people and the urban landscape, this continues to be the main focus of his work. "I look for the beauty rarely appreciated; the scene out the train window that is soon forgotten, the building that collapses and is plowed over, and the people you will never know."
