Sarah Corbin was an enthusiastic equestrian throughout her life, as well as devoted to
photography. These two passions were combined in her participation at Pegasus and the
Hammond, situated near her weekend home on Peach Lake in northern Westchester, NY.
Sarah volunteered at Pegasus for many years, both providing photography of special events and “walking” the horses. At the Hammond, Sarah participated in the group exhibition Visions Revealed in 2014. Her husband George Corbin recognized and honored her commitments by dedicating the full proceeds from the sale of Sarah’s photographs to Pegasus and the
Hammond.

Exhibition:
The exhibition Sarah Corbin Photographer: A Tribute covers over forty years of Sarah Corbin’s photographs of equestrian, landscape, and alternative photographic techniques.
An inveterate global travel photographer, the show includes landscapes, animals, and people of the Camargue in southern France, Ireland, Iceland, and Mongolia.
Originally a classical musician, a printmaker, and an abstract painter, Sarah (1947-2022) was a fine art photographer since the early 1980s. Her images attempt to capture her emotional
response to a particular event or scene in time and place, and her hope was to share and
recreate it in the eyes of the viewer with each photograph. She taught all levels of photography at Herbert Lehman College, Bronx, NY and showed regularly at Soho Photo Gallery in New York City. Sarah won numerous awards in juried shows throughout the tri-state area. The Corbins resided in New York City, as well as in North Salem, NY.

About the Hammond
The Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden, in North Salem, New York, was founded in 1957 by Natalie Hays Hammond (1904-1985) as a place where Eastern and Western cultures could be appreciated and visitors could enjoy the beauty of nature. The Hammond consists of an art museum that presents a changing roster of exhibitions, as well as offering educational programs and classes. The highlight of the Hammond is the Japanese Stroll Garden, which
occupies 3 ½ acres, is centered around its pond, and includes numerous rare Japanese plants and trees, as well as species native to Westchester. Also on the grounds is a traditional
Japanese tea room, which was imported from Kyoto and is used for tea ceremony events. The Hammond is open to the public from April to November.
