Greenburgh Public Library to Host “The Joy of Connections” Author Talk and Community Conversation
Greenburgh, NY – On October 29, 2024, Greenburgh Public Library will welcome authors Allison Gilbert and Pierre Lehu for an in-depth discussion of their book, The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life, coauthored with the late Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer. Stefanie Ilgenfritz, Coverage Chief of Health & Science at The Wall Street Journal, will moderate this insightful and necessary discussion. The event, part of Greenburgh Public Library’s 2024 Kindness Week, will explore how to address the growing loneliness crisis and create deeper, more meaningful relationships.
At the heart of the conversation will be Dr. Ruth’s legacy—a woman beloved for her candid approach to sexual health, who, in her final years, turned her attention to another deeply personal topic: combating loneliness. Her extraordinary journey, from surviving the Holocaust to becoming a world-renowned therapist, offers valuable lessons on human resilience and connection. In a world where the Surgeon General now recognizes loneliness as a public health crisis, her insights feel especially urgent.
As part of this special evening, attendees can purchase copies of The Joy of Connections on-site, with ten percent of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of the Greenburgh Library. Those who wish to purchase their copy in advance can do so through The Village Bookstore in Pleasantville, with instructions for picking it up at the event.
Join us on October 29 at 6:15 pm for what promises to be a meaningful conversation about the power of connection and new ideas on nurturing the relationships that bring joy and purpose into our lives.
