Pelham Art Center Announces Winner of 12th Biennial Alexander Rutsch Award
Pelham Art Center recently announced Haley Hasler as the winner of its biennial Alexander Rutsch Award for painting. The Colorado-based artist works in self-portraits, representing herself through emotionally relevant works that depict, in both realistic and fantastical worlds, the joys, theatrics and challenges of being both an artist and a parent.
This award is a juried competition that honors the memory and artistic achievement of artist Alexander Rutsch (1916-1997), who actively supported Pelham Art Center for more than 25 years. This year’s judging panel was composed of Rutsch family members, Pelham Art Center Gallery Advisory Board members, and two guest jurors: artists Patricia Miranda and Jason Stopa.
A solo exhibition of Hasler’s paintings will be on view May 24-July 16 at the Center, with an opening reception on May 24.
