Free & Affordable Outdoor Arts Events This Week: July 15-21

Editor’s Note: Music is in the air all summer long! Outdoor live music is just one check off the box of things to do in Westchester. This summer, free and affordable outdoor arts events are prevalent, and we at ArtsNews are dedicated as always to providing our readers with the comprehensive coverage of the arts news and events in our County.

Pelham Summer Concert Series: The Bookends Band
Presented by the Town of Pelham

The Bookends Band is a group with five lead vocalists that cover a wide range of styles from the ‘50s through the ‘80s with traditional rock instrumentation. 7:30pm at Gazebo Park. FREE.

July 15
Bassist Nilson Matta
Presented by Jazz Forum Arts

This concert features renowned bassist Nilson Matta on an open-air plaza alongside the Hudson River. Matta has collaborated with Brazilian legends and, perhaps most notably, was selected by Yo-Yo Ma for his Grammy-winning Brazilian Project. 6:30pm at Henry Gourdine Park. FREE.

July 15
Yonkers Waterfront Live: Day Kornegay & The Days Ahead Band
Presented by Yonkers Downtown

Day Kornegay & The Days Ahead Band convey a sense of both assurance and authenticity infused with elements of R&B, urban pop, funk and hip-hop. 6:30pm at Yonkers Waterfront Amphitheatre. FREE.

July 17
NRCA Summer Sounds Series: The Fabulous Acchords
Presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA)
This event features ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s music from The Fabulous Acchords, a male vocal doo-wop group that puts a spin on classic and contemporary songs across multiple genres. Food trucks from Leila’s Crepe Station and Poke Motion will also be present. 7:30pm at the Hudson Park Bandshell. FREE.

July 17
Dobbs Ferry Music Summer Series: Ron Jackson Quartet
Presented by Jazz Forum Arts
This concert features Ron Jackson, a master of the seven-string guitar, who has performed globally and recorded. Concert in this series at Waterfront Park are preceded by Jitterbugs jam sessions, a jazz education program for young children. 6:30pm at Waterfront Park on the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry. FREE.

July 17
Lake Isle Country Club Concerts: Bookends Band
Presented by the Town of Eastchester
The Bookends Band is a group with five lead vocalists that cover a wide range of styles from the ‘50s through the ‘80s with traditional rock instrumentation. 8pm at the Lake Isle Country Club. FREE.

Tramps like us will be performing this month at the Emelin Theatre and featured on our Outdoor Arts Events list.

Concerts in the Park: Tramps Like Us
Presented by Emelin Theatre

This outdoor concert features c, which has earned accolades from numerous publications and industry insiders. 7pm at Harbor Island Park. FREE.

Miho Nobuzane-Elijah Quartet
Presented by Jazz Forum Arts
This week’s concert features Japanese keyboardist, vocalist and composer Miho Nobuzane-Elijah, who has thrived in New York’s Brazilian jazz scene and expanded into jazz and pop.  6:30pm on the grounds of Lyndhurst Mansion.

July 18
Music in the Square: Metro Music Featuring Joe Tribuzio
Presented by Armonk Chamber of Commerce

In Armonk Square, guests can hear the soulful melodies from Metro Music, featuring Joe Tribuzio. 6pm. FREE.

Food Truck Fridays
Presented by Pound Ridge Partnership

Known for its low-key atmosphere and live music, this series brings neighbors together once a month for food trucks and live performances. 5pm in Scotts Corners. FREE.

NRCA Summer Sounds Series: Christine Chanel & Annie Minogue Band
Presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA)
Christine Chanel & Annie Minogue Band offer indie soul, funk, pop and rock music, with food trucks on hand from YumBro and Cousins Maine Lobster. 7:30pm. FREE.

Friday Nights in The Courtyard: Bria the Artist
Presented by the Chappaqua Library

Soulful contemporary soul music from singer-songwriter Bria the Artist in the Library’s courtyard. 7pm. FREE.

Mary Ann McSweeney & The Mingus Project
Presented by Jazz Forum Arts

Mary Ann McSweeney is an accomplished first chair bassist who interprets the music of Charles Mingus. 6:30 pm at Pierson Park. FREE.

Summer Concerts at the Gazebo: Dan Zlotnick Band
Presented by Armonk Chamber of Commerce

The Dan Zlotnick Band will perform a blend of rock, blues and folk music at Wampus Brook Park. 6pm. FREE.

MorDance will be performing at Hudson RIver Museum and is featured on our list of Outdoor Arts Events.

July 20
Riverbound: Rivers Flow-Inspired Ballet by MorDance
Presented by Hudson River Museum
The women-led dance company, MorDance, presents a ballet inspired by the museum’s Rivers Flow / Artist Connect exhibition and the rivers’ impact on artistic practice, spiritual beliefs and life itself, choreographed by Morgan McEwen. Following the ballet, the company will take part in a Q&A session, allowing the audience to gain insights into their process and the intersection of ballet and visual art. FREE.

July 20
Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival
Presented by The Sleepy Hollow Project
This whimsical festival aims to connect local residents with the river today to ensure its tomorrow. The family-friendly day of art, storytelling, music and wacky antics begins with a parade and costume contest on both land and water. Subsequent festivities in the park and open beach include art projects, a marketplace, face painting, an art gallery and musical performances. At Kingsland Point Park from 12pm. FREE.
