The Photographer’s Journey: A Tribute to Larry Salley
On view: February 24, 2017-March 17, 2017 (Tuesdays through Saturdays)
In honor of the memory of Lawrence (Larry) Salley, ArtsWestchester and the African American Men of Westchester are proud to present The Photographer’s Journey: A Tribute to Larry Salley, a retrospective show of Larry’s photographic work.
Larry Salley was a modern day “Jazz Man”, being active in numerous organizations and activities. One of Larry’s deepest loves was photography. Wherever Larry went, he was armed with his camera ready to capture that special moment. His photographic oeuvre ranges from exotic landscapes, portraiture, floral abstractions, wildlife, and musical performances.
Along with his travels, Larry was also an avid lover of Jazz. His photographs are a colorful documentation of local Jazz and blues musicians that capture the energy and improvisational atmosphere of their performances. The Photographer’s Journey, will be on display at ArtsWestchester from February 23, 2017-March 17, 2017.
Individual prints from the exhibition are for sale, with 100% of the proceeds going towards an annual photography award in honor of Larry Salley.
Donations to the Larry Salley Photography fund will help make this new award possible. Your gift in any amount is greatly appreciated.
