Jazz Fest 2017: Glenda Davenport
Glenda Davenport, Jazz Vocalist, began her singing career in 1992 and has been performing steadily in the tri-state area in jazz clubs, concert stages and private parties. Born in to a musical family, Glenda was a winner at The World Famous Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night in April 1993. Invited by tenor saxophonist, Carmen Leggio, to join his quartet as his exclusive vocalist, Glenda performed at the Saratoga Jazz Festival in 1994. Recent festivals include the annual Binghamton (NY) July Jazz and Music Fest. New York venues include the Village Gate, Birdland, Cornelia Street Cafe’, The Kitano Hotel, Iridium Jazz Club and the Metropolitan Room. She has recorded two CD’s: “Sophisticated Lady” and “More Than You Know.” She performs regularly with accompanist Hiroshi Yamazaki in duo, trio, quartet and quintet settings, etc. She has also performed with Don Friedman, Bill Crow, Jerry Bruno, Houston Person, Sarah Jane Cion and Danny Mixon to name just a few!
