About Pradeep Gupta

Pradeep is a self-trained artist whose work spans a wide range of mediums, reflecting his personal experiences and unique perspective on the world. With a lifelong career in fashion and lifestyle retailing, Pradeep initially explored painting as a student, treating it as a creative escape. Now retired, he has fully embraced his passion, transforming his New York art studio into a sanctuary of modern, contemporary, and vibrant abstracts. His art combines mixed media and unconventional tools, producing textured layers of color and energy that resonate with those seeking beauty, depth, and inspiration in their surroundings.

Artist Statement:

“The purpose of my paintings is to make something beautiful for me. They are a means of expression. They represent my deepest feelings as a response to my life. My paintings are how I see color; how I see shapes; how I see line. They are about complexity, sadness, hope and always beauty. My style of painting is contemporary minimalist and through them I want to express my experiences.
When I work on a painting, I put away all thoughts that are not helpful and channel my energies towards relaxing and becoming one with my canvas. Since I work intuitively, this is absolutely important. I begin to see shapes in my head and think about how to put them out of my huge palette of colors. Never, ever do I think about what others expect or want or what will sell, but rather I look at my time in my studio as a process of discovery.
I identify who I am with my artwork… in other words, I love the work, the experience of making each art piece.”
