ArtsWestchester presents Futures, an immersive exhibition of large-scale and installation-based artworks which explore the prompt: What can the Hudson Valley look like in 100 years? As Westchester County and the Hudson Valley is changing through redevelopment, ArtsWestchester is committed to demonstrating how the arts are fundamental to the social well-being of our region and capacity for aiding in conversations about the future. Our built environment is a mix of suburban and exurban communities that is redeveloping rapidly and is changing the role of the arts, culture, and economy. This exhibition will be in the 4,800 sq ft gallery, which is housed in a landmarked building in the heart of downtown White Plains, NY.

ArtsWestchester places artists at the center of imagining our region’s next chapter. Artists work at the intersection of visual culture, craft, architecture, and design; through their perspectives, we aim to explore concepts of historic land ownership, building inclusive communities, creative placemaking, and sustainable development. With one of many histories of setting a canon of artistic practice, institutions such as the Hudson River School have shaped how we see our landscape and thus the integral use of artists to see ourselves within it. This project invites artists to envision built and social transformation by giving them a seat at the table for this planning.
