Through December 22: The Nutcracker in Mamaroneck
Ballet des Amériques presents Nutcracker Dream, a 90-minute adaptation of the classic The Nutcracker ballet with choreography by the company’s director, French-American choreographer Carole Alexis. Professional dancers of Ballet des Amériques will perform the featured roles, with additional roles performed by young dancers selected through regional auditions. Performances will take place at Emelin Theatre. Various dates and times.
Through December 29: Reenactment of A Christmas Carol As Told by Dickens
M&M Performing Arts presents a recreation of Charles Dickens’s 1837 performance of his own classic novel, A Christmas Carol. In Mr. Dickens Tells A Christmas Carol, actor Michael Muldoon plays Dickens as he tells the beloved tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. The performances will take place in the historic period setting of Lyndhurst Mansion. Lyndhurst also offers tours of the mansion, which will be decorated for the holiday season. Various dates and times.
December 6: A Day of Art, Poetry and Open Studios
ArtsWestchester hosts a day of art, poetry and open studios throughout its building. Beginning at noon, guests are invited to drop by the ArtsWestchester gallery to view the Futures exhibition. At 4pm, attendees can explore open studios on the historic landmark building’s upper floors to meet artists in their studios. A ticketed evening event at 6pm includes poetry, music and conversation with Westchester Poet Laureate Phylisha Villanueva and fellow poets.
December 7: Indian Classical Music Workshop and Concert
Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden presents a day-long workshop in Indian classical music. At 2pm, the workshop will be led by award-winning sitar player Pandit Indrajit Banerjee and esteemed tabla player Nitin Mitta. The workshop will culminate in a 7pm concert that features the two musicians, as well Stefan Dutta on the sarod and Raj Kumar Chattopadhyay on the tabla.
December 7: Holiday Art Market Reception
Mamaroneck Arts Guild hosts a reception for its holiday art market, which runs through December 24. Guests can expect refreshments and a 10% discount on the market’s items, such as fine art, handmade ceramics, jewelry and more. Artists featured in the market will be in attendance. At 3pm.
December 8: Show Explores Hammerstein’s Songbook
Jacob Burns Film Center presents screenings of The Nightmare Before Christmas on December 7, 8 and 14 as part of its JBFC Kids! series. The PG movie follows Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, whose plans go sideways when he tries to bring Christmas to Halloweentown. Following the December 7 screening will be a free activity with Super Awesome Artland!. The December 8 screening will be a sensory-friendly screening. 11am.

On December 7 and 8, The Taghkanic Chorale will perform a holiday concert comprised of Baroque compositions including Vivaldi’s Credo and Magnificat, as well as works by Bach, Purcell and Buxtehude. The performances will take place at Saint Mary’s in-the-Highlands in Cold Spring at 4 pm.
