Over the past several years, public art has flooded the City of Rye, bringing the community together, engaging Westchester artists and raising funds for underserved populations. Now, Rye Arts Center is taking time to celebrate two of those public art initiatives, and the people who made them possible, during its annual fundraiser taking place this weekend.

Pelham Art Center (PAC)’s current Mental Fragments exhibition, on view through May 7, dives into themes that look at how people grow and experience change throughout school to adulthood. Appropriately, the show was curated by members of the Center’s Teen Arts Council.
On May 6-7, a two-part program presented by ArtsWestchester and Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) will introduce audiences to the classical Raga music of North India. Taking place at MCW, the program aims to introduce this art form to audiences in Westchester who are less familiar with it.
The presenting partners of JazzFest White Plains have announced the lineup for this year’s 12th annual festival, which will take place September 6-10. The event is a partnership between ArtsWestchester, White Plains BID and the City of White Plains with presenting sponsor Montefiore Einstein.
It was a summer evening in July and I was with the ArtsMobile team at Druss Park in White Plains for an event from the City’s “Nights in the Park” series. Our job, as usual, was to bring arts into the community and provide arts access to as many people as possible.
A monumental new public art sculpture was unveiled yesterday in Mount Vernon. Peaceful Journey, by artist Eto Otitigbe was commissioned through an open competitive process managed by ArtsWestchester for its permanent home at the new 42 Broad building.
